Contal pioneered the first website that offered its customers a single-screen comparison of domestic Australian airfares, accommodation, rental cars and a wide variety of vacation activities. We wanted to avert the large corporation industry takeover that threatened to push aside smaller, more personalised, independent travel agencies, and, 40 years later, we can say that we succeeded – Contal’s technology resulted in the competitive travel industry you see today.
